The NHL lottery draft has been a disappointment. The first televised Draft lottery since Sid the Kids draft year was boring. It was almost certain that Tampa would win with the worst record in the NHL. A great reward for a despicable season was the answer for the upcoming 08’ Draft. The 1^st pick goes to Tampa with the L.A. Kings picking 2^nd the Thrashers, Blues, and Islanders finished the top 5 picks. All 5 teams were represented and the most likely #1 pick was televised live. Steven Stamkos of the OHL was the 1st pick of the major junior draft and now he has the chance to go #1 overall for the NHL draft. The talk from the Lightning has been that they hope to see Stamkos wearing an NHL sweater at the draft podium along with the beginning of their season next year.
